Our Story
Help us build a water well in Malawi In loving memory of our beloved father Haji Lal Meah (R)
This will be as ongoing reward (sadaqah Jaariyah) for him
Alhamdulillah, our father lived a long and beautiful 92 years. He was genuinely a special soul who impacted so many lives.
He spent his time devoted to his religion, his family, and his community. Wherever his presence was, laughter would always follow. He gave all his energy to make us happy, and would take the fall for us if we were ever in trouble.
He taught us the true meaning of kindness, patience, and unwavering faith. His greatest wealth was never measured by what he owned, but by the love, generosity, and compassion he gave so freely to everyone around him. He was the heart of our family—a source of strength, wisdom, laughter, and comfort—and his presence made every one of us feel safe, valued, and deeply loved. Although our hearts are broken by his loss, we find peace in knowing that he returned to his Lord after a life devoted to Allah, his family, and serving others. We humbly ask you to honour his legacy by helping us build this water well in his name, so that every drop of clean water, every child who drinks, and every family whose thirst is quenched becomes, by the mercy of Allah, a continuous charity (ṣadaqah jāriyah), a source of light in his grave, and an everlasting reward that continues to elevate his rank in Jannah.
May Allah grant him the highest ranks in Jannah and reunite us with him again. Ameen.
Provide a Water Well. Change Lives.

Malawi is a very poor country and desperately needs clean water
Your donation will provide
A water well Bored with drilling rig
Depths range from 40m to 60m
A manual handpump installed with a cement apron
Dug in rural areas of the central region
Each well serves 350+ people
Well construction creates an ongoing act of charity by providing for communities far into the future.
Donors to Ummah Welfare Trust’s well initiatives can thus expect lasting rewards from supplying accessible clean water to those most in need.
Increasing access to clean water remains a pressing challenge globally. Ummah Welfare Trust aims to help address this need by drilling deep water wells in under-served communities internationally.
‘The best Sadaqah is giving water (to drink).’ [Ahmad]
